Administrative History | Lockhart's parents came from Dumfriesshire and brought him up to know and enjoy the poetry of the town's famous son, Robert Burn's. From his early twenties he became a favorite at Burns clubs and societies across Britain: during his Birmingham years he delivered toasts and addresses at clubs across the Midlands, and on his return to Aberdeen did the same for clubs in Aberdeenshire. He was elected a life member of Dumfries Burns Club in 1938. |
