Description | Diary of a walking tour, 1 - 16 April 1921. The volume includes a letter written by A. L. Bagley, 65 Grove Street, L[eamin]gton to A. R. G. Burn, undated. He is glad he was able to get a holiday, and that it was very successful despite the weather, although he thinks he (Burn) would have got on faster if he had been on his own. He also mentions peaks which are not in the S.M.C. guide book and questions height of other peak. He is subscribing to the S.M.C. journal again now that there is a new editor in place. He would also like to keep Raeburn for a few weeks and had not intended to get Young: he had resolved some time ago to not buy any more books. He also discusses the different places he has been to climbing.
The diary also includes a cutting from the Oban Times, dated 23 April 1921, of a letter written by Ronald Burn to the editor regarding one of the peaks on the Glen Etive range. He mentions that he is an 'enthusiastic collector of place-names and traditions' and notes that he is a member of the Gaelic Society of Inverness and Scottish Mountaineering Club. |
