Administrative HistoryBorn in Carnlough, County Antrim, in 1911, J. Montgomery McRoberts was the son of a master mariner. He graduated MA from Aberdeen University in 1962, and from 1963 to 1970 he taught at Aberdeen Grammar School. He died in Aberdeen in 1978.
SourceThe manuscripts were given to the library in 1985 by Mrs. Lorne Davidson, James McRoberts' daughter. Their original provenance is unknown.
DescriptionFive unrelated manuscripts, including two charters of confirmation (1575 and 1795), one discharge and assignation (1717), letters patent for improvements in ventilation (1862) and a record of proceedings before Banff Sheriff Court (1575).
