Administrative HistoryBritain's National Health Service was established in 1948 following the enactment of the National Health Services Bill in 1946. The Government was met with some opposition from the British Medical profession, anxious that demand for their services would decline as the population became healthier. Bringing a private profession under the national umbrella also raised concerns regarding dpoctor's remuneration.

In response to these concerns, the Representative Committee of the British Medical Association was established as the association's Governmental liaison body on the National Health Service Bill. It met during 1943 and 1944, prior to the bill's passage though parliament.
DescriptionMinutes of the Representative Committee, March 1943 - April 1944.
