| Administrative History | Mary Esslemont travelled to Australia in July 1968 with her friend and fellow soroptimist, Dr Elizabeth Baxendine, to attend the World Medical Conference in Sydney. Before the conference, they spent several weeks touring the country, both independently and as guests of Soroptimist clubs, during which time, Mary Esslemont chartered a new club in Adelaide and opened the new headquarters of Sorptimist International in Melbourne. |
