Administrative History | Florence Elizabeth Watt was the youngest daughter of Edith and Arthur Barron. Edith Barron was the daughter of Gavin Greig.
Gavin Greig (1856-1914), folksong collector, was born in 1856 and was schoolmaster at Whitehill, New Deer, Aberdeenshire. From 1903 he collaborated with James Bruce Duncan (1848-1917) in the recording of the extensive collection of folksong and ballad manuscripts which was subsequently deposited in Aberdeen University Library. He died in 1914, and in the same year a collection of his articles published in the Buchan Observer was printed in booklet form under the title ‘Folk Song of the North-East’. |
