| Administrative History | David Thomson was Professor of Natural Philosophy at King's College (and the University of Aberdeen from 1860) from 1845-1880. Born at Leghorn in November 1817 he was educated in Italy and Switzerland and studied at Glasgow University and Trinity College, Cambridge. He was appointed professor-substitute of Natural Philosophy at the University of Glasgow before his appointment at King's and he played an important part in the process that led to the formation of the University in 1860. He was also Secretary of the Senatus Academicus. |
