Description | Bundle of letters and papers belonging to Captain the Honourable William Keith
The letters deal mainly with the prospects of naval promotion for Captain Keith and with private business. Some of the letters and papers also refer to naval activities in connection with the battle of Navarino in October 1827 and its aftermath. They include:
Letter, signed "Keith" asking some favour for Lord Colville as "he may be of some use to William on some occasion" 1820
Letter from William Keith to his brother, the 7th Earl, dated H.M.S. Dartmouth, off Navarino, 28 October 1827, discussing his promotion and movements of the Turkish and Egyptian fleets

Letter to Captain Keith in London from William Fellows, Dartmouth, Gibraltar, with naval news and gossip, saying that "no more untoward events [are] likely to take place, for we are in prime order particularly our guns" and that Keith had "required all [his] talent and discretion in avoiding firing into the French admiral's ship", 22 April [1829]
