Commission by James VI, 1589, appointing George Keith, Earl Marischal, as keeper of the House of Slaines: "We understanding that the place houss and fortalice of Slanys quhilk be our directioun wes renderit and deliverit to our rycht traist cousing and counsalour George erll mariscal lord Keyth may greitlie serve (salang as the samyn sall remane in his handis) to the advancement of oure authoritie and service in the north partis of oure realme over the quhilk he is constitute oure lieutenent and justice Quhairfoir we will and grantis and be thir presentis decernis and ordainis the said place houss and fortalice to be still retenit and kepit be our said rycht traist cousing and his servandis in his name in time cuming ... ay and quhill he returne from the pertis of Denmark quhairunto as our ambassador he is to repair... James R."
2. Letter from George, 10th Earl Marischal, to Bailie Robert Bruce of Kintore, concerning the nomination of a minister; from Potsdam, 25 June 1773
Also: 3. Cintemporary copy will of Catherine Countess Dowager of Erroll, dated St. Germains 2 October 1693. "In the first place I leave the jewell I gott from the King of France with the box that has the King of France picture in it to my niece the Lady Inverurie my Lord Kintores sones wife [...] I leave my best watch to my Lady Inverurie".
