Ten letters to John, 3rd Earl of Kintore, from Madrid and elsewhere, 1727 - 1729, talking of his hopes of entering the Russian service, and of mutual friends:

".. in one respect I look on you as my nearest relation after my brother..." 20 October 1727

Informing the Earl of Kintore that the Earl Marischal intends to move to Valencia, Madrid 9 December 1727

"I have as yet no answer from Russia, if I do not go there I will go to France to confer with you on what Mr Fraser wrote to me." Madrid, 19 November 1728
Enclosed letter [to the Earl Marischal] from the Duke of Berwick (signed "Liria") in Moscow, on his hope of an appointment there, 25 October 1728

"Now that my brother is in Moscow and where he was well received, I can't doubt but his sollicitation join'd to the D. of Liria's will procure me an answer emediately upon the Czar's return to Moscow...", Madrid 28 December 1728

From St Ildefonso, 30 June 1728, congratulating the Earl on his decision to come there for the winter and hopes to meet him. "... these last years I have been such a wanderer that wherever you are, except the land of cakes, it is not improbable but that I may have the pleasure to see you..." Refers to his brother, James Francis Edward Keith: "My brother is gone from here three weeks ago, he is made Major-General in the Czar's service ...".

From Valencia to the Earl of Kintore, expressing thanks, 4 May 1729

Six letters to the Earl of Kintore, no place, 1732 - 1736, thanking him for his friendship and assistance and mentioning family matters. "I continue in the old way to pass my time with a few books, a horse, and a dog & lead an indolent retired life" 4 June 1736

From Chalons 1736 [to the Earl of Kintore], and from Cadiz 1737to the Earl of Kintore, thanking him for the credit he has furnished

From Boulogne and Bordeaux 1738, and no place 1755, with general news and greetings (4 letters)

From Sanssouci, Potsdam, 1764 to Bailie Bruce, asking for tables to be sent from Keith Hall

To Alexander Bannerman in Aberdeen 1764, concerning charter of sloop from Aberdeen to Hamburg (2 letters)

From Potsdam 1772 to Bailie Bruce, asking for seeds of kale and cabbage

To Lord Haulkerton:
letter of January 1756 referring to differences with the Ministry [in Berlin] and the king's attitude to this; of October 1758, discussing a shipment of Dresden china and furniture to Lord Haulkerton; and from Potsdam, 7 February 1771, replying to a letter from Lord Haulkerton containing "many complaints" relating to the estate of Kintore, and setting out the Earl Marischal's position on this and other property issues. A note on the reverse of the letter [by Lord Haulkerton] reads "Both I and Sir Alexander protested the letter to which this is an answer, but Mr McKenzie of Delvin made a point of it - no doubt with a good intention".

14 letters from Potsdam 1764 - 1774 to Bailie Robert Bruce, factor of the Kintore estate, mainly instructions on estate business and messages to friends in the area. Including message in French to Mr Gordon, minister at Kintore 1766: "I have written this in French because you understand it well and because I am much more accustomed to writing in this language than in English".
