A few days later, he burned the second two letters and vowed on his knees at midnight that he will give his life in Cromar until May before going to London or the West Indies. He then drafted an advert of his services for when he is in London and another letter to Dr Clark in the West Indies. A day later, he is unsure whether to send off the third letter he had drafted to Dr Clark and determined that he would go to London in January unless prevented by Miss Fraser. Later, he wrote and sent the fourth draft of a letter to Dr Clark
