DescriptionLetter from Lord Hailes, Newhailes, to Sir William Forbes, Edinburgh, relateing to James Beattie's resolve; saying that Beattie seems to be dissatisfied with something Forbes or Hailes has said and mentions that Forbes had transmitted Hailes' letters to Beattie. Letter speculates on the people who may have confirmed Beattie's decision, but does not name them. Hailes writes: You & I have done what we thought right, Dr Beattie has done what he thought right, & there is no more to be said. I ?hope that all ?will be for the Best".
