Administrative History | Mary (Mally Beattie) (1744 - 1807), Beattie's wife. Beattie met her when he boarded with her father on first coming to Aberdeen in 1758. They married in 1767. |
Description | Letter from Mary Beattie, London, to Lady Mayne, Amo's Grove near Southgate, Middlesex, mentioning the arrival of the 'Olive Branch', which was apparently delayed due to a flood. Mrs Beattie partly transcribes a letter Mr Beattie received from Mr Robinson, which says that the King has consented to give Mr Beattie an annual pension of two hundred pounds. Mrs Beattie writes about how pleased Sir William, Lady Mayne and Miss Graham must be for the Beatties and wonders whether time at Amos Grove should have been better spent. Letter mentions how Mr Beattie is in better health and how busy he is writing letters. Also says that Dr Majendi has invited the Beatties to dinner at Kew on Tuesday, which means that the Beatties will be unable to see Sir William. Mrs Beattie writes that they are about to travel to Berkshire and that everyone in Aberdeen seem to be well. |
