DescriptionEight pages being the final part of a draft letter to an unnamed correspondent, whose past behaviour has caused a breach with his family. Beattie hopes to bring about a reform of his behaviour and a reconciliation: if the young man will leave Scotland and live in England for a year on his half-pay from the army, and if his conduct during that time is irreproachable, Beattie will then give him financial assistance, use his interest to gain him advancement in the army, and attempt to reconcile him with his father.
