Administrative History | Anne Lockhart [Hon. Mrs. Boyd] second wife of Charles Boyd and sister of the Earl of Erroll's first wife. |
Description | Advice on the education of 'my little friend Charles' (possibly one of the nephews of the Hon. Charles Boyd). Classics useful, but may not be the best for him before engaging business of counting house. He should study modern languages, especially French, Italian and English. But teacher of those languages are usually not exact grammarians, and their scholars never speak fluently without going to foreign countries. Teachers there though catholics, never interfere with principles of protestant pupils. Bishop Geddes [probaly John Geddes (1733-1799), Roman Catholic bishop] could advise her well. |
