Administrative History | John Ogilvie [1732-1813] was student at Marischal College, probably in 1746-1750. He and Beattie probably attended the Divinity Hall together in the years after their graduation. He was licenced to preach in 1755. He was Minister at Lumphanan between 1759 and 1760, and from then at Midmar. He published a number of poetical and theological works. Ogilvie was one of Beattie's earliest literary friends, exchanging comments on each other's poems by 1758. There is little evidence of a close friendship after the early 1760s, when Ogivlie is only occasionally mentioned in the correspondence. [Date could be 24 or 29]. |
