Lady (Frances) Mayne, later Lady Newhaven [d. 1801]. Wife of Sir William Mayne. Formerly Frances Allen, the heiress of a considerable estate in Ireland. She kept up a correspondence with Beattie and his wife for some years
Description
Very depressed letter on the state of Mrs Beattie's health and his own state. He tries to keep alive for the sake of children. He attends to duties in college and transcribing papers, but had to shut himself out from society. He rejoices at the good reception of the New Act of Parliament in Irland.
