The collection includes: four legal documents concerning Alexander King and James King, 1508, 1553, undated and 1619; Papers relating to General James King, Lord Eythin, 1628-1651; Papers relating to Archbishop William King of Dublin, 1680-1880; Rental of Barra, 1776; Letters and papers relating to various members of the King family, chiefly clergymen and army officers, 1820-1947; Genealogical papers, principally relating to Kings of Barra, 19th to early 20th century; Printed material relating to the South African War, 1851-1901; Miscellaneous offprints and printed material, 1721-1918.
[The majority of the collection consists of nineteenth-century letters and papers, reflecting the distinguished military careers of several individual members of the family.
