Administrative History | Jean Hardie was the daughter of Sir David Hardie, LL.D. (1856 - 1945), and compiled notes for a history of him in the 1970s.
David Hardie was born in Elgin in 1856 and educated at the Grammar School and University of Aberdeen. He studied medicine, and became consulting physician at the Aberdeen Sick Children's Hospital. During the First World War he served as Lieutenant Colonel of the Royal Army Medical Corps. He was knighted in 1913, and later emigrated to Australia, where he died in 1945. |
