Administrative HistoryDr Alexander Allan Cormack (1891-1976), (MA 1913), son of William Cormack, born Bankhead, Newhills 20/06/1891. He was headmaster at Rosemount Secondary School. In retirement he started bringing together his research into Susan Scott Carnegie. As a result of his research he published the books 'Susan Carnegie 1744-1821: her life of service', Aberdeen University Press, 1966 and 'Two Aberdeenshire Spas, Peterhead and Pannanich with some account of Susan Carnegie', Aberdeen University Press, 1982.

Susan Scott Carnegie (1744-1821) of Charleton, near Montrose was a philanthropist and is most famed for helping to found the Montrose Lunatic Asylum.
