Description | Alexander Leslie is glad to learn from recent letters that grandmother is still alive; regrets trouble caused by financial transactions; a large quantity of wheat is being shipped to England; advises against a Mr Henry's coming out to assist Mr Eason in the church at Montreal as most of the Scottish ministers are sent out by the "Society" in Glasgow; mentions presence in Montreal of Thomas Hogarth from Aberdeen who had been visiting Havana; cannot understand uncle's opposition to recent reform measures by Crown and government; fears rioting at elections. |
