Description | Abstract of letters from Reverend James Bruce Duncan, Lynturk, to Gavin Greig M.A. anent their gathering of Folk Song and Music 1905-1914. Made by William Walker on sheets torn from a note-book; 8ff.; actually contain abstracts of manuscripts MS 2732/26 and MS 2732/27; a note is appended which records the handing over to Miss Duncan in 1921 of the manuscript claimed by her and the sending of a receipt to P.J. Anderson; there is also mention of a visit to Mr Anderson by Miss M.A. Davidson on 2 March 1921 concerning Miss Duncan's wishes to have father's material for "a lady in England" [possibly Miss Broadwood] with a view to separate publication; a note by William Walker in abstract from MS 2732/26/7 states that James Bruce Duncan was always regarded by the New Spalding Club as "assistant editor" to Gavin Greig. |
