Note taken. "Charles, Lord Fraser married a descendant of the family of Mar, Lady Mary Erskine, daughter of James, 7th Earl of Buchan, who by a former marriage with Simon Fraser, was mother toWilliam Fraser of Inverallachie, father of Charles Fraser of Inverallachie". [I think this is wrong. According to genealogy in Douglas' Peerage. Simon Fraser m. Lady Margaret or Marjorie Erskine and had three sons by her, Alex (d.1698),William d.s.p.) & Charles. Charles in his turn had 4 children, the eldest son, Charles dying in 1746 before his father and second, William in1789.] M.A.S. [ In James Taylor Great Historical Families of Scotland (1890) II p.291 it is stated that Charles, Lord Fraser bequested Castle Fraser tothe children of his wife, a daughter of the 7th Earl of Buchan, by her first husband, Sir Simon Fraser of Inverallochy.] M.A.S |
