DescriptionRegistration, at Edinburgh on that day at the request of Mathew McKell, advocate, as procurator for James Marshall and Jean Campbell, of discharge and assignation by James Marshall, writer in Edinburgh, factor to John Law of Lauriestoun, eldest son of deceased William [Law of] Lauriestoun, goldsmith in Edinburgh, with consent of Jean Campbell, Lamb's mother & curatrix as in letters of factory of 22 Apr. 1704 reg. on 2 May 1704.
Deceased, Charles, Earl of Mar and cautioners by bond of 27 Jan. & 3 Feb. 1680 had borrowed from Wm. Law 3000 merks, reg. 7 Nov. 1683 & son has rights thereto by father's testament confirmed on 15 Aug. 1684 & by decreet against Mar etc.on 15 Jan. 1685. Achibald Stirling of Carden (one of the cautioners) had paid them 3000 merks & @rent from Lammas 1686 to Lammas 1690 + expenses etc. + discharge granted with assignation to Stirling so that he could claim relief from Mar fordebt now paid.
