| Administrative History | The Operative Bakers of Scotland National Federal Union was established in 1888. With trade unionism strongly established amongst bakers of the North East - a Bakers' Union existed in Aberdeen before the formation of Aberdeen Trades Council in 1846 - Aberdeen was chosen as the union's first headquarters. By 1922 it had become known as the Scottish Union of Bakers and Confectioners, and later, as the Scottish Union of Bakers and Allied Workers. In 1978, it amalgamated with the Union of Shop Distributive and Allied Workers [U.S.D.A.W.], becoming the Scottish Bakers' Section of that union.
