Administrative History | Maxwell Gordon was born on 19 November 1792, the son of the Reverend Dr. George Gordon of Aberdeen. He graduated MA from Marischal College there in 1809. Though he made some attempt to set up as a doctor, he was licensed in 1814 and presented to Foveran parish, Aberdeenshire, by the Prince Regent, later George IV (1762-1830), in 1815. He completed the account of the parish for the New Statistical Account, and died there on 31 January 1840. He married Margaret Robertson from Peterhead in 1827 and they had six children: George Robertson, Robert, Maxwell, Alexander, Mary and William. |
