DescriptionLetter from Lord Saltoun to unknown Scottish peer requesting his vote and support as he puts himself forward as a candidate 'to represent the Scottish Peerage in Parliament'. Attached to the letter is a newspaper cutting, undated [possibly printed in 1903 in view of the dates in the shipping advertisement on the reverse], recounting a ‘laughable incident told in connection with Lord Saltoun and the period about the Battle of Waterloo’ describing how he and other British officers had gained possession of billets from officers of a French cavalry regiment by mixing up boots left outside the doors.
