Description | This sketchbook contains sketches in pencil, ink and watercolour. The page one of this sketchbook appears to be in William Kelly's hand with annotations in his handwriting but the remainder of the book is attributed to William Smith. The subject matter includes landscapes, architectural sketches of buildings, architectural decorations and motifs. In addition, there are a number of technical drawings, which include measurements, notes on structures and floor plans. The locations include Venice, Bologna, Padua, Verona, Mantua and Milan. The page numbers have numbered in pencil from 85 - 147 possibly by William Kelly's hand, which indicates that this sketchbook is a continuation of the works in MS 2380/1/4/1. sketchbook contains loose pages. |
