| Description | Gordon, Colonel Harry, 'R.E.': copy of his last will and testament, made before his departure from Portsmouth for Grenada to act as commanding engineer in that and neighbouring islands, with supporting affidavits certified by the Lord Mayor of London, John Perring, on 6 September 1804, and various later legal endorsements. Registered in Edinburgh on 20 March 1810 as a probative writ in books of council and session. There had evidently been a lawsuit disputing the validity of this holograph but apparently unsigned will, Colonel Gordon having died before 6 September 1804. Provision is made for his children (both legitimate and illegitimate) from realisation of real and personal estate in Grenada and the West Indies, and his eldest (legitimate) son , Peter, is named as his 'residuary legatee' with respect to estate in Aberdeenshire. |
