Description | Small quarto vellum-bound volume, originally used for accounts in the 1770s. The first eight pages have been cut out, leaving stubs, and the remaining blank pages used as a catalogue, headed "Books in the Whitehaugh Library Sept. 23rd 1856". Case listings of books of the 16th to 18th centuries. The catalogue occupies the first two-thirds of the volume. Cash accounts for June and July 1772 (4 pages) survive at the end of the volume, and the final endpapers have two lists of folios, one headed "Fine Illustrated Books Folio" (17th and 18th century) and the other, in a different hand, "Folios" (Ovid's Metamorphosis 1560 to Pope's Homer 3 vols 1715 and undated). |
