Description | Notarial copy made at Edinburgh by Robert Menzies, N.P. and Colin Campbell, N.P., on 30 August 1694, duly witnessed, of disposition granted at Edinburgh on 24 July 1691 (duly signed and witnessed) by Alex. Bothwell, fiar of Glencorse, eldest son of Alex. Bothwell, younger of Glencorse, in favour of Henry Bothwell, his 'immediate third brother' and his heirs male, respecting the lands and barony of Glencorse, property and superiority [as in 7 supra] with similar clauses regarding reservations, debts, etc. Lands entailed to Henry Bothwell and his heirs male, thence to Alexander's fourth brother, Robert, and his heirs male, thence William, their youngest brother and his heirs male, his second brother, John and his heirs male, thence to eldest heirs female of brothers in same order, whom failing to Alexander's own other nearest heir male, whom failing to his own other nearest and lawful heirs. Persons succeeding are to carry and use the surname and arms of Bothwell and designation of Glencorse and any brothers marrying without consent of father and certain other persons shall forfeit rights under the entail. Provision is made for wives, father's liferent, payment of debts, etc. |
