Administrative HistoryJohn Bisset Chapman was born in 1875 and graduated from Aberdeen University in 1897. He established his career in London, working at County Hall, and making extensive contacts with the literary scene, including T.S. Eliot, Aldous Huxley and Sylvia Townshend Warner. His publications include 'The Genealogy of Aldous Huxley' (1931) and 'Horace and his poetry' (1931).
SourceDonated by Chapman's widow in 1955. Chapman's library of contemporary literature was bequeathed to Aberdeen University by his widow in 1961.
