| Description | Memorial of the Earl of Findlater & other heritors of the parish of Rathven against the minister of Rathven, who had raised a process for augmentation of stipend. Said to be 1700 catecisable persons in parish, but some 600 are papists (many having lately "turned" to that church) and there are also many who frequent an episcopal meeting house or are cared for by the minister at Cullen - only about 300, it is claimed by heritors, for whom Mr Garden acts. They regard his case for augmentation unproved. |
