| Administrative History | John Gregory was the third son of John Gregory (1724 - 1773) and his wife, Elizabeth Forbes (c.1728 - 1761).
A brief career in the Royal Navy was cut short by his death in 1783. Whilst on service in the West Indies, he was taken prisoner by the Spaniards and despatched by them back to England but shipwrecked off the Irish coast. He died of his injuries shortly afterwards at Fahan, Ireland. |
