| Administrative History | Roderick MacLeod was Principal of King's College, Aberdeen, from 1800 to 1815, having previously held office as regent and then sub principal from 1748. He graduated MA in 1746 and DD in 1793. A native of Taliscar in Skye, he was connected with many important Highland families.
Ewan McLachlan (d.1822) graduated M.A. at King's College in 1800 and held the office of librarian, 1800 - 1819, while assistant to Mr. Gray, parochial schoolmaster at Old Aberdeen, whom he succeeded in 1819.
In P. J. Anderson, ed., Roll of Alumni in Arts of the University and King's College of Aberdeen 1596-1860 there are references to three students with the surname of McAlister from Invernessshire: Matthew, in class of 1793-97, who left ('accessit') in 1793, John 'accessit' 1801 from class of 1800-04 and Donald, entered as member of class of 1801-05, but none appears to have graduated. |
