Administrative HistoryCharles Skene (1812 - post 1857) was the second son of Charles Skene (fl. 1795 - 1839), Professor of Medicine, Marischal College, Aberdeen, 1823 - 1839. He graduated MA from Marischal College, Aberdeen, 1830, became Captain in the 79th Cameron Highlanders, and afterwards was Superintendent of the Indians in Canada.

Andrew Skene (1814 - 1846) was the third son of Charles Skene. He became a member of the Royal College of Surgeons in London in 1835, was assistant surgeon to the 52nd Regiment, and died in Wales in 1846.
SourceThe papers were presented by Mrs. D.R. Thom in 1942: her connection with the Skene family is unknown, but the papers were apparently purchased by D.R. Thom, Aberdeen, from William Brown, fine art and antiquarian bookseller in Edinburgh, in 1893 (see MS 2061/41).
