Description | Material related to the Greek cause (mostly in Greek) and later events in Greece (1821-1837 and undated). It includes contemporary military lists, plans and reports, eye-witness accounts, and naval logs, many of which were used by Thomas Gordon in his 'History of the Greek Revolution' (2 volumes, London and Edinburgh, 1832). Some of these documents are closely related to, and should be studied in conjunction with, others classified in the correspondence.
[Demarcations are not always clear-cut but, in general terms, it was considered more appropriate to place in this section anonymous records and those that do not refer specifically to Thomas Gordon. Suggested dates of undated documents refer to the event they deal with.] |
