George Barclay is alleged to have been detained while ill in Scotland under brieves of Fatuity and Furiosity raised by relatives, including his brother-in-law, John Gordon of Buthlaw. Barclay had travelled to London with the assistance of his wife and the servant, who petition for the release of their clothes and effects, which had been seized.
