| Description | Draft letter written by Beale on a blank page of a letter from Hieronymus Schlick MS 1009/2/44, possibly to Lord Burghleigh or the Earl of Leicester Abstract: Letter of introduction for Count Schlick, described as a young nobleman, who wishes to be received by his Queen for whom he has letters. Beale would have presented him himself had he not been driven from London “by the nearness of the sickness to the house I dwell in”. Beale leaves blank the name of the place from which he writes. Note: If this is the letter to Burghley mentioned in MS 1009/2/44a, (which seems likely), the fair copy has been preserved and is calendared in C. S. P. Dom., 1547-80, p. 599. It is there said to be dated 16 September from Odiham, Hants. [end of abstract and note by James D. George] Undated (but after 9 September 1578) |
