| Administrative History | Jacobus Telones of Zweibrücken, German student studying in England. (The name is the humanist translation of Jakob Zöllner) |
| Description | Letter in Latin asking Beale for advice and assistance Abstract: Beale, whom Telones terms 'polyprotos', like Ulysses in Homer, had advised Telones to stay in London to await the Bishop of Salisbury who was expected shortly. But he is likely, he hears, to be delayed at Salisbury. The money he received from the Archbishop of Canterbury, which has been his main livelihood, is running out. What should he do, stay on or go to Salisbury, with a recommendation from Beale? If he receives support for a year or two from the Bishop, he would consider himself no less indebted to Beale than if he had provided the money himself. Note: The Bishop of Salisbury was John Piers, who held the see from 1577 to 89, when he became Archbishop of York. He had been appointed Lord Almoner in 1576. [end of abstract and note by James D. George]
