DescriptionLetter in Latin, clerk's hand, with endorsement by Beale and later summary endorsement 'The Lantgrave endeavours to prevent a Report that he had subscribed the Augustan Confession' [i.e. the Augsburg Confession]. One folded sheet signed Wilhelm Hesen, with a separate sheet headed 'Post scripta', also signed by the Landgraf.

Abstract by James D. George:
[The Landgraf writes that he] had previously got [Dr Johann] Sturm to send Beale a copy of the 'preface to the formula of accord'. Gives an account of subsequent developments in order that Beale may put things before the Queen in their true light (see endorsement ii below).
The postscript asks Beale to apply to the Queen for a diploma ('ut vocant') for freedom from customs and free export of corn for the Landgrave's court due to the high prices which have to bt paid in Flanders due to the incessant wars in the Low Countries [Germania Inferior]..
