Administrative HistoryDr Claudius Buchanan (1766 - 1815), East India Company Chaplain, sent a box containing 62 volumes of Oriental literature addressed to 'the University of Aberdeen'. His London agent re-addressed the box to King's College, but Marischal College's sacrist George Pirie accepted the delivery. The result was a long dispute between Marischal and King's College with regards to the gift.
