Administrative History | William Keith, VI Earl Marischal (1614 - 1671) as Marshal of Scotland was responsible for the Honours of Scotland, which during the Civil War were housed at Dunnottar Castle. During a seige of Dunnottar Castle Earl Marischal contacted his mother to hide the honour, which she smuggled out to George Oglivie, commander of the Garrison. The honours were then hidden in Kinneff church until the restoration. |
