Administrative History | Alexander Anderson (d. 1577). Appointed as Principal by Papal Bull of Collation, Pope Julius III, Fasti Aberdonenses, p.123, item 85; Subprincipal in 1537 and 1549; Regent 15--, regent, then subprincipal by deed of date 12th Feb 1537, then principal by 1553 of King's College, Aberdeen, parson of Tyrie, rector of Kinkell, remained Catholic and so removed from office in 1569 along with rest of staff, d.1577. As anti-reformist also alienated himself from univ,. destroyed writings, sold ornaments, books and furniture of college. Lived several years in Aberdeen after his deposition, and died there. |
