Description	It is likely that Byres' [James Byres of Tonley (1734 - 1817)] stylish drawings proposed the partial rebuilding and resurfacing of the buildings at King's College. These drawings indicate plans for a handsome library and a museum of some ambition. Building plans for 'New Work'; James Byres of Tonley drawings:c.1767: A: ‘The Common Hall, which may be divided into schools’ B: ‘Elevation facing the street’ C: [cut-away elevation] D: [alternative design for the elevation] E: ‘Plan of principal storey and plan of ground storey’ In addition, plans by John Adam, c.1780: F: ‘Plan of the ground storey of the college of Old Aberdeen’ G: ‘Plan of the upper storey’ H: ‘Elevation of the college of Old Aberdeen’ I: ‘Section of library and of the schools below’
