| Description | This series comprises sub-series of papers involved in acquiring ownership or use of land or buildings through purchase, transfer, donation, lease or rental.
Property acquisition should be listed as legal documents but due to the size and scope of the material it has been separated to promote easier accessibility. The geographic area of these records spans the whole of the north-east of Scotland and covers the entire existence of the College from the 15th century to the 19th century. |
| Arrangement | Arranged alphabetically. The majority of these sub-series had been previously arranged within shuttles in the new and old charter chests. The arrangement of the documents in these shuttles was ideologically maintained and utilised as sub-series of the catalogue. Some of the shuttles, and therefore the following cataloguing sub-series, do overlap between areas and properties but it is assumed that the arrangement served a specific function in the past and has been maintained. A number of geographical areas such as St Germains were held two shuttles, one in the new and old charter chest and this distinction has been maintained within this catalogue. |
