Administrative HistoryWilliam Duncan, AM at King's College, Aberdeen, was Professor of Natural Philosophy and was proposed Regent in 1800 to replace Roderick Macleod who had been made Principal. Dr. Andrew Mackay (LL.D. King's College 1795, FRSE) contested the appointment and took legal action against Duncan, but Duncan remained in post confirmed by the senate until his death in 1815.
