| Description | Library Ledger. The date '1st June 1887' is written on the cover with a note: 'All books [etc.] given out to members entered here'. The start of the volume contains a list with each member's name and a note of the page number directing the reader to a full list of the books they have taken out, recording the date each book was borrowed, the shelf mark of the book and the date it was returned. Some members' names have been scored out and it is recorded that they have died or left the Society. The first member recorded in the book is Dr. John Gordon on page 1 and on the 3 June 1887 he borrowed a book on surgery, returning it on the 18 July in 'good order'. The last entry is on page 113 and lists the books borrowed by Dr. W. R. Pirrie. The remainder of the volume, from pages 114-412, is blank. |
