DescriptionMinutes of the Aberdeen Medico-Chirurgical Society (typescript) including reports of Council, the Librarian's report and Treasurer's report presented at the Annual Business Meetings. Contents include:

16 December 1976: Society meeting. Dr. Mary Esslemont and Principal Sir Fraser Noble elected Honorary members. Several speakers were introduced including Professor George Smith who spoke about the Institute of Environmental and Offshore Medicine.

7 April 1977: Council meeting. Reference to settling of issue surrounding Shorthouse Bequest and steps to prepare scheme for administration of the Trust.

2 June 1977: Society meeting. Discussion of use of funds from Shorthouse Bequest for research and education and note of discussion on copying extracts from minute books [also see minute of Council meetings held on the 3 November and 1 December 1977 and resume of the bequest enclosed after minute of Council meeting of 4 May 1978].

12 January 1978: Society meeting. Dr. G. P. Milne delivered talk: 'Midwifery in the 18th, 19th, and early 20th centuries in Aberdeen'.

16 March 1978: Council meeting. Discussion regarding amalgamtion of trust funds. [A letter is enclosed from Paull and Williamsons regarding this matter and the Naughton-Dunn Memorial Trust.]

2 November 1978: Society meeting. Dr. C. C. Smith presented a paper on 'Infection and Contemporary Medicine' (1 page).

7 December 1978: Society meeting. Mr. Ronald Cumming, Surgeon at the Gilbert Bain Hospital, Shetland delivered talk: 'Shetland, Surgery and Oil' (1 page).

1 February 1979: Society meeting. Talk by Professor Ashcroft, Department of Mental Health, University of Aberdeen: 'Depressive Illness in a General Practice Population' (1 page).

27 February 1979: Council meeting. Reference to agreement by University to allow Society to have bust of Dr. Adams of Banchory on indefinite loan and to delay in writing of book on history of the Royal Infirmary [also see Council meetings, 11 and 25 October 1979].

3 May 1979: Council meeting. It is noted that the lease between the Society and the University of Aberdeen had been signed.

10 January 1980: Society meeting. Professor Douglas, Regius Professor of Medicine, University of Aberdeen delivered paper: 'Haemostasis and Thrombosis' (1 page).

3 April 1980: Council meeting. Draft copy of first 80 pages of history of Aberdeen Royal Infirmary enclosed. [Also see minute of Council meeting, 5 June 1980.]

3 April 1980: Society meeting. Professor Kosterlitz presented paper: 'The Possible Functions of the Endogenous Opiod Peptides, the Enkephalins and Endorphins' (1 page).
