| Administrative History | Born in 1806, John Glennie was sixth of the eight children of George Glennie, MA, DD (d 1845) and Margaret Valentine, niece of James Beattie (1735 - 1803). He graduated AM at Marischal College, Aberdeen in 1824 but did not take up a profession. He died in 1864.
